So..it's been a while

Well this one will have to be short, but I am going to try to make this a better priority! Sorry friends.
So lets see...

April 2011
I started my new job at DCS! I can't wait to help so many families and hopefully be that person that made the light bulb click on!! I was very sad to leave my job at UT. The BCMB Dept and the professors and students will forever be in my heart! It was a truly amazing experience to work there and I hope the all become wonderful scientists, doctors and who knows what else!

May 2011
Jeff was blessed to be hired at a private company very close to our house. I am jealous he gets to come home for lunch every day, but our dog and cat seem to enjoy a mid-day visit from their Daddy! May=Jeff's birthday! I hope he had a wonderful time! We went out with his family to Litton's the most amazing hamburger place EVER!!! I love him so much!!!

June 2011
I was in a wedding at the beginning of the month. One of my best friends Kristen, I really don't know how I would be sane without her as a BFF! My family went on a big vacation to Disney..it was amazing! It was my 2 nephew and 1 niece first time to Disney..how special is that?!! Another dear friend, Shanna got married to a sailor..GO NAVY! June was a very crazy month to say the least!

July 2011
Family time at the Lake for the 4th is so fun! My birthday was wonderful as all ways this year! My in-laws took me out to eat. I am now the proud owner of a new sewing machine and about to take classes with a friend at a local craft store. Work is going well for both of us. We are both out of training...yes I had 3 months of training and some was out of town! I am glad to be home. Jeff had to go out of town for a week for training also. It has been extremely hot in TN this summer and we have spent lots of time at the lake or in the air conditioning!!!

First day tutoring Kindergarten

Today was my (Amanda) first day tutoring Kindergarten at a local public school! My awesome church 2nd Presbyterian has adopted the school and we are getting out there to help the school with all kinds of ways. I am also excited because I am tutoring through Big Brothers, Big Sister and one of these kids might eventaully be the one who I am a mentor for! I can't wait for that! to I was there for an hour and a half and it flwe by! I had so much fun talking to all of them and learning about them. I took small groups out in the hall and we played a game at a table. It was about nutrition and they had to get their "tray" full..one food group per area with all five food groups total! It was so much fun and I was sad to leave. Can't wait until next Wednesday!
